While pregnancy is an amazing experience, there’s a lot to keep in mind to take the best care of yourself and baby. Learn from people like me who have been there, by taking the following three tips to heart.
Head The Advice About Folic Acid
This important B complex vitamin will help your baby develop in the healthiest way possible. It can prevent spina bifida, other neural tube defects. Such defects usually occur within the first few months of pregnancy and can be devastating to both mom and baby. Even if you only suspect you are pregnant, start taking folic acid. Once your good news is confirmed, switch over to the supplements your doctor recommends.
Take Your Multivitamins
Some people underestimate the value of a multi, myself included. It can be very difficult to remember to take it when there’s so much else going on in your life! However, your body is going through so many amazing changes, the demand for greater nutrition is unbelievable. No matter how well you plan to eat for the next nine months, take the multivitamin each morning.
Avoid Massive Weight Gain
This was my biggest mistake during my first pregnancy, and I’m certainly in good company with that. We tend to let our cravings take over, eating with reckless abandon. Within reason, be good to yourself with what you eat, but make every calorie count for you and your developing baby, rather than against you for the next few years. That baby fat is so hard to take off later!
With so much to bear in mind now, you need all the help you can get. Remember these three important tips, and enjoy the amazing experience ahead of you.
