If you have recently become pregnant, you may be wondering what to expect in regard to each of the trimesters that you will go through. This is a very difficult time for some women, especially if they have never been pregnant before. They may not know what to expect, and therefore having a basic idea of how the pregnancy process occurs is something that can help them during this wondrous time. Here is a brief overview of what happens in each trimester when a woman becomes pregnant.
First Trimester Of Pregnancy
In the first trimester, which is from the first week to the 13th week, a number of changes will occur. The blastocyst, from which your baby is derived, will begin to split and form the embryo and placenta. At this point the baby will begin to develop including the circulatory system, the baby’s heart, and the baby’s face will begin to take shape. The baby’s muscular system will also be developing, as well as the development of cartilage and bone. The mother will personally notice that her hormone levels will begin to elevate, causing mood swings. The mother will also notice that her breasts will become quite painful, and she may experience a tingling sensation. Morning sickness is common during this first trimester, as well as increased urination.
Second Trimester Of Pregnancy
In the second trimester which extends to the 27th week of pregnancy, involves many different changes for both the baby and the mother. Hair will begin to sprout from the baby’s head, and the little one will begin to kick inside the mother from. The baby will also be growing in size, developing fingers and toes. The development of knees and elbows will also be discernible as the baby develops their limbs right on schedule. The mother will notice that her bellybutton will be popping out, as well as the possible development of hemorrhoids. It is during this time that the baby takes on a fully human form with arms and legs, something that will be experienced by the mother in the form of kicking inside her stomach. All of this leads up to the final trimester, the final few weeks before the baby is born.
Third Trimester Of Pregnancy
In the third trimester, which will go to the end of the pregnancy, the baby is starting to blink and grow in size. The babies senses are beginning to develop, and breathing will also be noticeable. The immune system of the baby will begin to kick in, and the mother could become very restless, unable to sleep. This may involve cramping in her legs, preventing her from getting a good nights rest. The combination of the baby growing in kicking, along with this physical discomfort, makes this final trimester extremely difficult. At some point, you’ll notice that it is time to give birth, especially when the mother’s water breaks, leading to the inevitable birth of her child.
Although this is a brief overview of what happens during the time when a mother becomes pregnant, this will provide a quick checklist of things to expect during the nine months that she is pregnant. There are many different changes that occur during each trimester as the baby forms into a human being. Both the mother and the baby will undergo phenomenal changes, leading up to the baby’s birth. All of the pain and discomfort that the mother has experience is about to lead up to a great reward. If all goes well, the baby will be delivered in about 42 weeks, providing the family with a beautiful healthy child.
