One of the first things I experienced when I got pregnant was stress. I know that doesn’t sound like the “proper” reaction. I know that I “should” talk about the overwhelming joy and excitement for the future that washed over me, but I have to be honest — that simply wasn’t the case.
I had a moment where my mind saw the magnitude of the change I was about to go through in all of its various shapes and forms. I thought about the physical aspect, the financial aspect, and the emotional impact the pregnancy and childrearing process would have on me, and it terrified me.
But then I realized that all of my fear and stress could actually be hurting the baby. I came to the decision that I would consciously calm down, and that I would do it for both my sake and my child’s. I began to meditate and do pregnancy yoga on a daily basis and it significantly improved my mental attitude.
I am so happy that I realized early on that, in order to have a happy and healthy pregnancy, you have to start with a happy and healthy attitude!
